Uses/Indications–>In small animals, calcitonin has been used as adjunctive therapy to control hypercalcemia. It potentially may be of use [REMOVE: as an adjunct to chemotherapy for canine mast cell tumors or] in the adjunctive treatment of pain, particularly when originating from bone.
Drug Interactions–>REPLACE entire content in the P-glycoprotein bullet with: P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES (eg, cyclosporine, digoxin, ivermectin, vincristine): Cetirizine was shown to be a p-glycoprotein inhibitor; therefore, avoidance or care should be taken with co-administration of cetirizine with p-glycoprotein substrate drugs.

Reproductive/Nursing Safety–>2nd paragraph, 1st sentence–>…rabbits demonstrated no overt teratogenicity at daily doses of up to 20 [REMOVE mg][REPLACE with µg]/kg
Dosage Forms/Regulatory Status–>VETERINARY-LABELED PRODUCTS: Dexmedetomidine Oromucosal Gel 0.[ADD:0]9 mg/mL (equivalent to 0.1 mg/mL dexmedetomidine HCl) in 3-mL dosing syringes; Sileo® (Rx). FDA-approved for use in dogs (NADA 141-456).

Dosages–>Dogs–>Extra-label use of the 2.27% (22.7 mg/mL) injection: 10 – 20 mg/kg every 24 hours IM, SC (must be diluted in saline) or IV depending on the susceptibility and site of the infection. If using IV, the [CHANGE 22.7% to 2.27% (22.7 mg/mL)] injection is first diluted into sterile saline (0.9% sodium chloride) at approximately 10 times the volume of the enrofloxacin.
Pharmacology/Actions–> If given at a low dose IV (0.01 mg/kg), it directly stimulates cardiac beta-1 receptors to cause increased heart rate and contractility with resultant increased cardiac output [remove and].

Overdose/Acute Toxicity–>Clinical signs of significant overdose after systemic administration may include arrhythmias (bradycardia, tachycardia, heart block, extrasystoles), [CHANGE: hyperkalemia to hypokalemia], hypertension, fever, vomiting, mydriasis, and CNS stimulation.
Dosages–>Small Mammals–>Analgesic–>Sugar gliders: 2 – 6 [REMOVE mg/mg][REPLACE with: mg/kg] PO every 12 hours
Dosages–>Cats–>Feline Hyperadrenocorticism: …Average dosages were 4.3 mg/kg PO once daily or 3.3 [REMOVE: kg/kg][REPLACE with mg/kg] PO every 12 hours.
Dosages–>DOGS/CATS–>Adjunctive treatment of hypotension, shock (extra-label):
a) Adjunctive post-CPCR treatment: From the RECOVER guidelines: Vasopressin 0.5 – 5 milliUnits/kg/minute ([REMOVE: 0.003 – 0.03][REPLACE with 0.03 – 0.3] Units/kg/hour) IV CRI.
d) Hypotension that persists in dogs despite volume resuscitation (found in septic shock); may be an indication for vasopressin (extra-label): 0.5 – 5 milliUnits/kg/minute ([REMOVE: 0.003 – 0.03][REPLACE with 0.03 – 0.3] Units/kg/hour) IV CRI
Dosage Forms / Regulatory Status–>Human-Labeled Combination Products–>Neomycin and Polymyxin B Sulfates and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic Suspension (containing neomycin sulfate equivalent to neomycin [CHANGE 2.5 mg to 3.5 mg], polymyxin B sulfate 10,000 units, dexamethasone 0.1%, benzalkonium chloride 0.004%, hypromellose 2910 0.5%, sodium chloride, polysorbate 20, HCl and/or NaOH to adjust pH, purified water): In a 5-mL sterile ophthalmic dropper bottle; Maxitrol®, Dexasporin®; (Rx).
Contraindications–> It should not be used in [ADD: pregnant patients or in] the presence of intraocular inflammation (uveitis), as it will worsen this condition.
